HOLY is a celebration of the creative fire, of the power of play and curiosity, of manifestation and the miraculous. The site-specific installation, conceived especially for CATALYST ART RESIDENCE HOTEL, brings together photography, video, custom furniture, sculpture, and sound to immerse viewers in a vital, energizing realm. In a new sculptural photographic series, Goldflower continues her ongoing exploration of creating contemporary archetypes. These images, created in collaboration with her muses, capture their individual spirit as well as the universal characteristics they embody. The images are printed on textile with a unique fabric frame, which dissolve divisions between photography and sculpture, and render each photograph a unique work of art. These borders are windows and the extended aura of the subject. To immerse in a color spectrum, these images explore our connection to what is alive. The subject is covered in flowers at full bloom, representing the potency of youth, the holiness of time. These portraits are charged with the vibrant force of the marigolds. Sacred to the Aztecs and central to current celebrations of visiting spirits in Mexico, marigolds are fast-growing members of the sunflower family and potent medicinal ingredients. With the energy of these brilliant fast-growing flowers, Goldflower conjures a space for collective vitality. Here, surrounded by revitalizing shades of orange and saffron, visitors are able to participate in a joyful celebration of life, death, and the holy, eternal cycle of regeneration and renewal.
